Antipaxos (from Greek Αντίπαξος) is a small island in the Ionian Sea located 2 nautical miles south of Paxi, between Corfu and Lefkada. It is only 7 nautical miles from the south of Corfu and 12 miles from Parga on the mainland. It is easily reached by small boats, especially from nearby Paxi or Corfu.
It has an area of 5 km² and about 100 inhabitants, though not all are year-round residents.
The east coast offers beautiful Caribbean-like beaches, while the west coast is rugged.
The island is truly beautiful, hilly, somewhat wild, very green, and in the evening, when the day tourists leave, it becomes absolutely silent. Olive trees, fruit trees, and vineyards producing very sweet grapes that yield excellent wine are cultivated there. Although Antipaxos is generally quiet, in high season it is overrun by tourists who visit for the day to enjoy its beautiful blue and crystal-clear sea.
The capital and only village on the island, Vigla, is located inland on a hill just behind the port of Agrapidia.
In Antipaxos, there are very few roads (unpaved) leading to the village and the main beaches. However, the island is so small that it can also be explored on foot.
