Greek Islands with Beautiful White Beaches and Caribbean Sea

Greek Islands with Beautiful White Beaches and Caribbean Sea
For those who love the wonderful beaches of the Caribbean but have a limited budget and perhaps less time available, there are some Greek islands with white beaches that certainly do not disappoint in comparison. They may lack palm trees, but the sea on many Greek islands is transparent and colorful like the Caribbean, and the sand is very light and fine. Greek islands, as we know, have many beautiful beaches, but the definition of beauty is not the same for everyone. Some appreciate fine sand, others pebbles, others rocks. Some seek solitude, some shade, some deep water, some gently sloping. Below, in particular, we will list the Greek islands with the most beautiful beaches in a Caribbean style: crystal-clear and colorful sea gently lapping a long beach of white, fine sand. The coconuts, instead of picking them from the palms, you will buy from the vendors!

ANTIPAXOS (IONIAN)

A tiny island but with a fantastic sea and pristine beaches. In particular, we mention the beautiful Voutoumi beach, with white sand, shallow, Caribbean-like, and crystal-clear sea. It can be reached by sea from the nearby island of Paxos, often for a day trip.

CEPHALONIA (IONIAN)

The most famous beach on the island, Myrtos, is beautiful, very white, wide, and with a particularly blue sea due to the presence of pearly rocks. The water, although colorful, is unfortunately never truly transparent due to the presence of talc, but it is still splendid. It can be reached by car via a winding road.

CRETE

Crete has two particularly renowned Caribbean-like beaches: Elafonisos and Balos.
Elafonisos is located at the southwestern end of the island, right in front of the island of the same name. It is very large, with white sand with pink hues, and a stunning, blue, and crystal-clear sea.

Balos is located at the northwestern end of Crete and is not easily accessible by land, but it is beautiful, sandy, white, isolated (with a small island in front), and has a fantastic blue and transparent sea.

ELAFONISOS (IONIAN)

A very small island but with a great pair of Caribbean-like beaches: Simos (Fragos) and Simos (Sarakiniko). These are two spectacular beaches of white and fine sand, large, with high dunes and natural shade at the back, shallow, very blue, and transparent sea. The two beaches are separated by a picturesque sandy promontory.

A small island with a beautiful sea and the fantastic Caribbean beach of Prassa: long, with white sand and a blue, shallow, and very transparent sea. It can be quickly reached by sea from the island of Milos.

LEFKADA (IONIAN)

Here, Caribbean-like beaches are not lacking, and there is plenty of vegetation (although Mediterranean in type, of course).

The most famous is Porto Katsiki, which is reached by a winding road and a long staircase but offers a truly spectacular view. The beach is of white sand and pebbles, surrounded by steep cliffs (not quite Caribbean in this case) and with a spectacular blue sea.

Very similar, and also very beautiful, is Egremni beach, which is reached by a dirt road and again a long staircase. The beach is white, with steep cliffs and a crystal-clear, very blue sea.

ZAKYNTHOS (IONIAN)

The most beautiful and famous beach on the island, called Navajo, is only accessible by sea: sandy, very white, large, surrounded by very high cliffs (also not quite Caribbean in this case, but we are in the Mediterranean...) and with a particularly turquoise and very clear sea. Besides its natural beauty, the beach is characterized by the presence of a large shipwreck on the sand: a cigarette smuggler ship that wrecked (hence the name of the place) in 1983.
