Best beaches of Elafonisos

The beaches of Elafonisos are among the most beautiful in Greece and are the main reason to visit the island. They have fine sand, and the best ones are located in the south and southwest. The only downside is that they are not sheltered from the winds. The sea is very colorful and somewhat reminiscent of the Caribbean. Here are the main ones, starting from the port and going around the island clockwise.

Lefkis bay
A small, sheltered sandy beach with a splendid shallow and turquoise sea.

Simos (Fragos)
Spectacular large beach with white, fine sand, popular, accessible by sea or a 4 km walk, with high dunes and natural shade behind the beach, calm, shallow, very blue, and transparent sea. It is separated from the other Simos beach by a sandy promontory.

Simos (Sarakiniko)
Spectacular large beach with white, fine sand, popular, accessible by sea or a 4 km walk, with high dunes and natural shade behind the beach, sea a bit less sheltered than its counterpart (Fragos), shallow, very blue, and transparent. It is separated from the other Simos beach by a sandy promontory.

Aglyftis
A small, tranquil beach with sand and pebbles, difficult to reach by land, with a view of the namesake islet and a beautiful transparent sea.

Panagia
A beautiful large beach near Kato Nisi, quite tranquil, with natural shade, a view of four islets, and a transparent sea with beautiful seabeds.

Kalogheras
A beach backed by sand dunes and large cedars, mainly used by the locals, with a sea that is not very accessible due to rocky slabs at the shore.
