As with all Greek islands, the main accommodations for holidays are studios, which are small apartments (often one or two rooms) equipped with a kitchenette, bedroom, and bathroom, usually family-run and often reasonably priced. The managers of the studios are generally very friendly and helpful, as are the residents, providing affordable accommodations that are well-suited to the typical needs of a holiday on a Greek island.
The island of Santorini is very touristy, and you can find a wide variety of accommodations, but during the high season, it gets fully booked, so it's best to book in advance. The island also has campsites in Megalochori, Episkopi Gonias, Perissa, and Thira.
If the vacation budget is very high, staying in Oia, but also in Thira, can be fantastic (there are several luxury hotel s and hotel s with private pools). If you prefer a beach life with visits, perhaps in the evening, to the beautiful villages up high, you should choose a different direction. The island is not very large, and transportation covers the entire area, but there are heights that slow down transfers. Therefore, choosing where to stay should be carefully considered. The range of accommodations is large, but there are also many tourists who want to visit. The villages with the most extensive offerings are Thira, Oia, Imerovigli, Kamari, Perissa, Akrotiri, Pirgos, Firostefani, and Karterados.
Thira
Thira, with a wide range of accommodation options, is the favorite place for tourists. The capital lacks almost nothing: it is picturesque with its Cycladic-style architecture, it is located right above the port, it offers breathtaking views, it is central for visiting the island, it is very lively, and it offers many services. It does not overlook the sea, of course, but it overlooks the impressive caldera, and that is no small thing!

If budget is not an issue or you want to spend a few days truly at the top, the village of Oia is fantastic. Wandering through its streets, you will never stop taking photos, especially at sunset when the caldera becomes even more impressive. There is less activity here than in the capital, so it is generally less suited for young people. However, it is perfect for a honeymoon.
