Best beaches of Citera

The beaches of Kythira are not numerous but are beautiful. The best ones are located in the southeast of the island. Here are the main beaches starting from the port of Diakofti and going clockwise around the island.

Diakofti
A sandy beach, easily accessible, equipped, with shallow, clear, blue water. A large shipwreck characterizes the landscape.

Avlemonas
A small sandy beach with clean water where Lord Elgin's ship, carrying stolen statues, capitals, and precious marbles from the Parthenon, shipwrecked.

Kaladi
A picturesque pebbly beach, not equipped, with crystal clear and colorful water.

Vlychada
A beautiful beach reachable only by sea (also by swimming from nearby Kaladi).

Komponada
A pebbly beach, easily accessible, partially equipped, with deep, transparent blue water.

Firi Ammos
A beautiful beach with red sand and pebbles, large, sheltered, partially equipped, and with clear water.

Vroulea
A small pebbly beach with rocks, shallow water with an interesting seabed for snorkeling.

Chalkos
A small, frequented, pebbly beach, equipped, with deep, blue water.

Kriakolou
A small gravel beach with high rocks, more easily accessible from the sea, adjacent to a small lake.

Kapsali
A sandy and pebbly beach, crowded, equipped, and panoramic.

Felloti
A pebbly beach with several underwater caves.

Melidoni
A small and picturesque sandy beach, frequented, panoramic, with beautiful clear water.

Limnaria
A small beach frequented by fishermen.

Limnionas
A sandy beach with two small islands in front and, further north, a sea cave frequented by monk seals.
