What to see in Telendos?

Telendos is a very tranquil islet dominated by a large rocky mountain. Its attractions include beaches, rock climbing, and wild, unspoiled nature. Below are the main things to do or see on the island.

Telendos
The only village on the island with picturesque tavernas.

Ancient Submerged City
On the seabed, you can see the ancient city that once stood on Telendos and was submerged during the 6th-century AD earthquake that separated it from Kalymnos.

Roman Ruins
Located to the south of the island, these ruins include a Roman theater, early Christian basilicas, and several tombs found near Tholaria, south of the port.

Byzantine Fortification
Only some parts of the walls are visible, but it was a very large structure designed as a refuge for many inhabitants during pirate invasions.

Agios Konstantinos
An ancient Byzantine church with a very panoramic view, located near the ruins of the fortification.

Agios Vasilios
An ancient early Christian basilica.

Trails and Climbing
Telendos offers many trails for beautiful walks in nature as well as several excellent climbing routes among caves and rock walls of all difficulties.

Festival
Held between late July and early August, this is a very lively and well-attended Greek festival.
