Ghioura is a very small and rugged island. However, I can recommend a visit to the Cyclops Cave and some snorkeling, as its seabeds are rich with crevices and the sea is incredibly clear.
Cyclops Cave
Located on the western side of the island, in an inland hill, this extraordinary and deep cave offers a beautiful display of stalactites, stalagmites, and remains of ancient dwellings. The cave is not easy to find without a guide and requires a challenging climb. It was once a refuge for hermits and, according to mythology, was the home of the Cyclops Polyphemus, who was blinded by Odysseus.
Marine Park
The marine park that includes Ghioura is the largest in the Mediterranean. Here, if you are lucky, you can spot the rare Mediterranean monk seal and dolphins. The area is recommended for snorkeling enthusiasts.
