What to see in Anafi?

On the island of Anafi, you can breathe an air of simplicity and serenity. It is primarily an island for relaxing, swimming, and walking. Having a nautical vessel is very useful for accessing the entire coast, which is not always reachable by land. Below is a list of the main attractions on the island.

Anafi (Chora)
The picturesque capital of the island, with domed houses arranged in an amphitheater and windmills in a very panoramic position overlooking the port. The village, with its narrow streets and whitewashed architecture, stands out in the island's arid landscape.

Kastelli
Located east of Chora, it includes a few remains of the ancient Doric city (ninth century BC): tombs, statues, and walls.

Vagia
An area rich in streams and a free thermal spring.

Monastery of Panaghia Kalamiotissa
Partially destroyed by the 1956 earthquake, it was a very important monastery located at the top of Mount Kalamos in a position suitable for spotting pirates. Currently, only the church is visible, which can be visited with very modest clothing. It is a very panoramic location.

Monastery Zoodochos Pigi
A beautiful monastery located at the base of Mount Kalamos near the Temple of Apollo.

Temple of Apollo
Built, according to legend, by the Argonauts to thank Apollo for saving them from the storm. Only a few ruins remain.

Katelimatsa
The ancient port of the island with findings of ancient tombs.

Dragon's Cave
Reachable on foot from the Monastery of Panaghia Kalamiotissa or by boat from the port, it is a beautiful cave with stalactites and stalagmites once used as a refuge.

Monolith
Located at the easternmost point of the island, it is a very large single block of rock (the second largest in the Mediterranean): a destination for expert climbers.

Boat excursion to Santorini
A beautiful day trip to one of the most fascinating and picturesque islands in Greece.

Festival of Panaghia Kalamiotissa
Held on September 7 and 8 at the namesake monastery, where you can witness a festival of traditional Greek dances.
