As in all Greek islands, the main accommodations for vacations are studios, which are small apartments (often one-bedroom or two-bedroom) equipped with a kitchenette, bedroom, and bathroom, usually family-run and often reasonably priced. The managers of the studios are generally very helpful and friendly, as are the residents, and they provide affordable accommodation that is suitable for the typical needs of a vacation on a Greek island.
The island of Zakynthos is touristy, and you can find all kinds of accommodation in hotel s (even by the sea), residences, and resorts. Additionally, there are several campsites: at Ampoula Beach near Tsilivi, in Alykes, at Psarou Beach near Alikanas, and a couple in Laganas.
Zakynthos also has at least two vibes: the party scene and the beach scene. It is advisable to choose the location for your stay based on what you are looking for. The best beach area is in the south, while the youthful nightlife is mainly in Laganas. The towns with the most accommodation options are Zakynthos, Laganas, Tsilivi, Vassilikos, Kalamaki, Kerion, Alykes, Alikanas, Argasi, and Aghios Nikolaos.
Zakynthos
The capital of the island is modern because it was almost completely rebuilt after the earthquake of 1953. It can be considered for its generous accommodation options, the presence of the port, the departure point for various public transportation to explore the island, and not least, its lively atmosphere. As for swimming, its beaches are certainly not among the best on the island.

The area is absolutely touristy and has very lively nights (to say the least!). Perfect for young people who love to have fun with music and practice water sports during the day. The beach is large, sandy, and has a beautiful shallow sea, suitable even for children. The area is located within a marine park and is frequented by "Caretta Caretta" turtles that come here to lay their eggs (in obviously uncrowded stretches of the coast). The range of accommodation options is very abundant.

A tourist area with many accommodation options. Tsilivi has a beautiful sandy beach with shallow waters suitable for children. During the day, you can practice various water sports, while in the evening, it is very lively.

In Vassilikos, there is a beautiful sandy beach with shallow, crystal-clear, and colorful waters. For those who love staying on the beach and enjoying the sea, this place is perfect; additionally, there are other beautiful beaches nearby. The area is peaceful: if you are looking for evening entertainment, it is better to stay elsewhere.

Staying in Kalamaki means being close to the airport, having access to a beautiful sandy beach with large scenic cliffs on the sides, and a beautiful sea suitable for children. The area is quite peaceful, located within the island's marine park, and is regulated due to the presence of sea turtles that lay their eggs in the area.
