Best beaches of Zante

The beaches of Zakynthos are both well-equipped and deserted, generally sandy with very beautiful and clean sea. If you are lucky, you may spot the Caretta Caretta turtle on some of them, but remember that it is protected and should not be disturbed. Here are the main beaches starting from the port of Zakynthos and going around the island clockwise.

Argasi
A long sandy beach with a gently sloping seabed, quite frequented because it is close to the capital, with an ancient bridge extending from the beach into the sea.

Porto Zoro
Located between Argassi and Vassilikos, it is a beautiful sandy beach, equipped, with crystal-clear and transparent sea and a gently sloping seabed, with some rocks characterizing the landscape.

Banana
One of the most beautiful on the island, located on the Vassilikos peninsula, it is very large, equipped, surrounded by a pine forest, and with a beautiful sea.

Porto Roma
A quiet, picturesque sandy beach with its small port and crystal-clear sea.

Gerakas
Located near Vassilikos, it is one of the most beautiful on the island: sandy, very long, with a beautiful sea, not equipped, and a bit wild. As an unspoiled and natural beach, it has been chosen by turtles to lay their eggs; it is part of the Zakynthos Marine Park.

Dafni
A beautiful sandy beach, not equipped, with warm sea, frequented by turtles for laying their eggs. It is part of the Zakynthos Marine Park and has a beautiful islet in front.

Kalamaki
Located near the town of the same name and the airport, it is very frequented and equipped. It is a beautiful sandy beach within the Zakynthos Marine Park, with large panoramic cliffs on the sides and a beautiful sea with a gently sloping seabed.

Laganas
The most famous and frequented beach on the island (even at night), long, sandy, with very shallow water. Even though it is very equipped (you can practice all kinds of water sports), it is so large that even here (within the marine park) turtles come to lay their eggs. In front of the beach, there is a green pine islet reachable by a wooden bridge from the next beach: Aghios Sostis.

Aghios Sostis
Located right after Laganas, it is a small sandy beach very characteristic and romantic because it is located between rocks and caves in a green environment of pines with a very beautiful and shallow sea. The beach is equipped and from here a wooden bridge connects the place with the islet in front, called Aghios Sostis.

Ormos Limnionas
Reachable from the town of Aghios Leon, it does not have a beach but is a very beautiful wild cove with colorful and transparent sea, perfect for snorkeling.

Ormos Vromi
A beautiful natural harbor divided into two coves, the southernmost one with a small sandy beach, not equipped. In front, it has a beautiful islet and is the starting point to reach the caves in the area and especially the splendid Navagio beach.

Navagio (Shipwreck Beach)
Located near Anafonitria, it is one of the most famous beaches in Greece, very frequented but reachable only by sea. It is sandy, surrounded by high, clear cliffs, and with a particularly turquoise and transparent sea. In addition to its natural beauty, the beach is characterized by the presence of a large shipwreck on the sand: a cigarette smuggler's ship that wrecked (hence the name of the place) in 1983.

Aghios Nikolaos
A beautiful and large sandy beach near the village of the same name with a small port, equipped, with a beautiful transparent sea and an islet right in front. It is frequented by divers and close to beautiful caves (including the Blue Cave) that can be reached, along with the famous Navagio beach, from the small port.

Makris Gialos
A beautiful partially equipped beach in the north of the island, reachable by a very scenic road, sandy and pebbly with a stunning, immediately deep, and transparent sea. The area offers beautiful seabeds, so I recommend it for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts.

Xigia
A small quiet beach with a sea cave from which sulfurous water flows: ideal for the skin but obviously with a strong smell of sulfur.

Alykes
Located next to the town of Alykes, it is very long, sandy, crowded, equipped for various water sports, and with a beautiful shallow seabed. It used to be a salt marsh area and offers several archaeological sites to visit.

Alykanas
It is practically the continuation of Alykes beach but a little less crowded, equipped, sandy, and with a beautiful sea.

Tsilivi
Located a little north of the capital, it is very touristy and frequented, sandy, with a transparent shallow sea. You can practice various water sports.
