Best beaches of Karpathos

The most frequented beaches of Karpathos are located near the capital, on the east coast. The sandy ones are in the south, while those to the west and north are more exposed to wind and sea whims. Generally, they are uncrowded, somewhat windy, and very natural. From the port of Diafani, by sea, you can reach the wildest and most deserted beaches, which are always beautiful. Here are the main ones, starting from Pigadia and going around the island clockwise.

Mikri Amopi
A small sandy beach, quiet, equipped, with shallow, azure, and transparent water.

Megali Amopi (Votsalakia)
A beautiful pebbly beach, equipped, with shallow, azure, and clear water.

Diakoftis
Located near the airport, it is a magnificent sandy beach surrounded by beautiful vegetation, with stunning shallow and crystal-clear water.

Argilopotamos
Located near the airport, it is a beautiful, quiet sandy beach with crystal-clear water. Being very exposed to the winds, it is especially appreciated by windsurfers.

Agios Theodoros
A picturesque beach with fishing boats, a small church, and the island of Kassos in the distance. It is pebbly, minimally equipped, with splendid, colorful, and very clear water.

Arkasa (Agios Nikolaos)
A small sandy beach, equipped, with beautiful water. Being exposed to the winds, it is one of the best places on the island for windsurfing, but less so for swimming.

Lefkos
A beautiful and long series of three sandy beaches, partially equipped, with beautiful water.

Vananda
A beautiful pebbly beach with clear water and a small church atop a rock enhancing the landscape.

Apella
Beautiful and picturesque, sandy, equipped, with natural pine shade and splendid azure and crystal-clear water.

Kyra Panaghia
A beautiful beach of sand and pebbles, equipped, with high cliffs on the sides and a beautiful church enhancing the landscape. The water is transparent and azure.

Kato Lakko
Two stunning coves best reached by sea from Pigadia, partially equipped, sandy, surrounded by greenery, with crystal-clear and azure water.

Achata
A small sandy beach, somewhat wild but equipped, surrounded by steep rocks, rich vegetation, and beautiful colored and transparent water.
