Peristera (from Greek Περιστέρα), also known as Evònimos or Xirò, is part of the Sporades, specifically the archipelago of islets of Alonissos. It is located east of Alonissos, less than a nautical mile away.

It has an area of 16 km² and is inhabited by fewer than 10 people.

The island is cultivated and has a gentle landscape on the western side, while it is wild and exposed to winds on the eastern side. Its highest peak, Mount Stefani, reaches 250 meters in height.

Since 1988, Peristera, along with the other islets of the archipelago, has been declared a marine park to preserve the environment, which is still frequented by the rare monk seal. Unlike the other islands in the archipelago, Peristera is freely accessible, and the restrictions are a bit less severe.

Peristera offers only two anchorages, one on the western side and the other to the south.

The island is almost deserted; the few inhabitants are engaged in farming and fishing but are present only in the summer season. The island is a refuge for seagulls, cormorants, many other birds, and also hosts the rare species of cri-cri goat. The sea is clean and clear, and there are several beautiful sandy beaches.
