What to see in Oinousses?

The island of Oinousses, recommended especially for those seeking tranquility and silence, is very small but still offers some attractions in addition to its beaches.

Oinousses
Located in a hilly area overlooking a beautiful bay, it is a fairly large village with white houses arranged in an amphitheater and beautiful villas inhabited mainly by shipowners during the summer. The church of Aghios Nikolaos stands out in the center.

Naval Museum
Located at the port, it contains collections of naval models from the Napoleonic wars, paintings, photographs, and historical documents. The presence of this museum on the island is due to the fact that several important Greek shipping families originate from Oinousses.

Mermaid
Located at the entrance to the port, the bronze mermaid welcomes tourists and sailors from a rock.

Evangelismos Monastery
A beautiful Byzantine-style monastery located in the northwest part of the island, featuring interesting frescoes. The place is also known for the beautiful embroidered fabrics made by nuns.

Nature Trails
For those who love walking in nature, the island offers many wild trails, especially in the green southern area.

Procession
Every year on June 29, a beautiful procession starts from the Evangelismos Monastery and reaches the port.
