Best beaches of Amorgos

The beaches of Amorgos are numerous, quite beautiful, often difficult to reach by land, and not equipped. The best ones are on the islets of Nikouria and Gramvoussa. Here are the main beaches, starting from Chora and touring the island clockwise.

Aghia Anna
A beautiful pebbly beach with rocks and crystal-clear blue sea. Behind it is the famous Monastery of Chozoviotissa, reachable on foot in about 40 minutes. Recently, the beach has become a tourist destination as it was featured in Luc Besson's film “Big Blue.”

Mourou
Located between Arkesini and Kamari, it is a picturesque pebbly beach, popular, with sea caves and beautiful crystal-clear waters.

Kalotarissa
A long sandy and pebbly beach with natural shade and very clear waters. From here, you can reach the nearby islet of Gramvoussa by boat.

Paradisia
A beautiful sandy beach with rocks and crystal-clear blue sea.

Kato Kambos
Located near Kalofana, a sandy beach with rocks and a charming white chapel, with very beautiful and clear sea.

Katapola
Easily reachable, long sandy beach with natural shade but not suitable for swimming as it is in the port.

Aghios Panteleimon
A quiet, long, sandy beach with a beautiful clear blue sea, enhanced by a chapel. Easily reachable by sea from the port of Katapola.

Maltezi
A beautiful sheltered sandy beach, very popular with clear and colorful sea. Reachable by land on foot or by sea from the port of Katapola.

Aghios Pavlos
Located near Aegialis, a sandy and pebbly beach with clear and sheltered sea, also reachable by land. It is the starting point for excursions to the nearby islet of Nikouria with its sandy beaches.

Aegialis
A series of long sandy beaches with natural shade and beautiful sea.
