Donoussa (in Greek Δονούσα) is part of the small archipelago called the "Small Cyclades," located southeast of Naxos (9 nautical miles). It can only be reached by sea, being 250 km from Piraeus, and is connected to some other Cyclades as well as the islets of its own archipelago.

It has an area of 13 km² and about 120 inhabitants.

The island is predominantly hilly and rocky. Its highest point reaches 363 meters (Mount Papas). The vegetation consists of Mediterranean scrub and orchards. The coasts are often steep, but there are several beautiful coves and sandy beaches. Unlike all the other Small Cyclades, Donoussa has potable water. The inhabitants mainly engage in agriculture, fishing, and a little tourism (but it only gets somewhat crowded during the high season).

The capital of the island is Stavros, more commonly called Chora, with the main port.

Donoussa is an absolutely tranquil island where time seems to stand still. The sea is crystal clear and colorful.

On the island, there is practically only one circular paved road, but there is no gas station and no car or scooter rental. Being small, it can easily be explored on foot, and the few cars that do circulate are mostly for agricultural use. For public transportation, there is a taxi and, during the summer season, also a bus. To reach the various beaches or coves, you can also be taken by local caiques.
