As in all Greek islands, the main accommodations for vacations are studios, which are small apartments (often one or two-room units) equipped with a kitchenette, bedroom, bathroom, usually run by families, and often at a good price. The owners of the studios are generally very helpful and friendly, as are the inhabitants, providing an economical yet suitable accommodation for the typical needs of a vacation on a Greek island.
The island of Ios has now become touristy, so you can find various types of accommodation including hotel s and residences. There are also three campsites on the island: one at the port and two at Milopotas.
In theory, being a small island, the choice of accommodation could fall anywhere, but it is good to keep in mind that in Chora, the nightlife is particularly lively. If you don't want to be disturbed by music and the comings and goings of cheerful young people, it's better to look for accommodation by the sea. However, if you want to make new friends and have fun staying up late, Chora is the perfect place. The locations, besides Chora and its port, that offer the most accommodation options are Milopotas and Manganari.
Chora
The beautiful capital with its white houses, located in a panoramic position just above the large port bay, is the classic place to stay in Ios. It has shops, discos, restaurants, bars, and becomes very lively in the evening. Music echoes from every corner, and the narrow streets are filled with young people in the mood for fun (and drinks). Chora offers plenty of accommodation options, and if you prefer a beach holiday that is a bit quieter, it is better to choose the area of the capital that overlooks the port and the equipped beach of Gialos, where various water sports can be practiced.

Staying in Milopotas means having access to a long sandy beach, not far from Chora, sheltered, very popular with young people, well-equipped, and with a magnificent sea. If you have chosen Ios for its beautiful sea but do not particularly appreciate confusion, music, and crowds, Manganari with its two kilometers of contiguous sandy beaches, might be the right solution.
