What to see in Koufonissi?

Koufonissi is particularly appreciated for its beautiful white sandy beaches and its crystal-clear blue sea. Being a small island, it can easily be explored on foot. Here are the main attractions:

Koufonissi (Chora)
A beautiful village with white houses, flowers, picturesque streets, a charming promenade for evening walks, and a lovely sandy beach.

Kato Koufonissi
Boat trip to the beautiful beaches of the other Koufonissi island, which is rugged, wild, with high cliffs and a stunning sea. A solemn procession takes place on the island on August 15th.

Festa di Agios Georgios
Celebrated around April 23rd and dedicated to the patron saint of the island. It features a procession displaying the icon of Agios Georgios and a communal feast offered each year by a randomly chosen faithful islander.

Festa dei Pescatori
Held in late May/early June, this festival is enlivened with music, dancing, wine, and fish.

Festa del Profeta Elia
A religious festival celebrated on July 20th with a procession and mass.

Festa della Dormizione
Held on August 15th, this festival features a procession of boats carrying worshippers and tourists to the church of Panaghia on Kato Koufonissi. After the mass, food is offered to everyone, and the return to Pano Koufonissi is also by boat, with the boats performing special maneuvers along the way.
