As with all Greek islands, the main accommodations for vacations are studios, which are small apartments (often one or two-room) equipped with a kitchenette, bedroom, bathroom, and usually run by families, often at a reasonable price. The island is large, but the best area to stay is quite limited and ranges from Chora to Alyko on the western coast of the island. The most touristic towns, besides Chora, are: Aghios Prokopios, Aghia Anna, Plaka, Mikri Vigla, Kastraki, and Alyko. For those who love complete solitude, picturesque mountain villages, or wild coasts, there are also less conventional solutions. However, usually, those who come to Naxos are looking for a beautiful sea and sandy beaches with gently sloping seabeds, and the places listed above are the most suitable. For those who love windsurfing or kitesurfing, Mikri Vigla is a paradise.
