Schinoussa (in Greek Σχοινούσα) is part of the small archipelago called "Small Cyclades," located southeast of Naxos (3 nautical miles). It can only be reached by sea and is connected to some other Cyclades as well as to the islets of its own archipelago.

It has an area of 9 km² and about 150 inhabitants.

The island, tranquil and somewhat wild, is covered with low hills with coasts that offer beautiful coves and fine sandy beaches. The island is not very touristy, very simple and genuine. The few inhabitants are mostly fishermen, shepherds, and especially farmers. The typical local product is a particular type of fava bean, but vineyards are also common.

The capital of the island is Chora, also called Panaghia, and the port is in Mersini.

Schinoussa offers no nightlife or entertainment of any kind, only its wild nature and its very clear and colorful sea.

The island's road network is limited to a kilometer connecting the port to the capital. On the island, it is possible to rent some scooters and quads, but there is no public service (neither buses nor taxis). Schinoussa, being small, can be easily visited on foot, and the few cars that circulate are mostly for agricultural use.
