Best beaches of Cefalonia

The beaches of Kefalonia are a mix of sand, pebbles, and stones. The sea is always very beautiful and clean. Some beaches are crowded, others deserted and waiting to be discovered. Here are the main ones, starting from the port of Sami and going around the island clockwise.

Antisami
Located just beyond Sami, on the right facing Ithaca, it is a beautiful beach of white pebbles, surrounded by lovely green hills, equipped, very frequented, with a beautifully colored, deep, crystal-clear sea rich in fish.

Skala
Located at the southernmost point of Kefalonia, it is a beautiful beach of sand and pebbles, large, long, equipped, and with crystal-clear water. Being very large, it has both areas with all kinds of facilities and quiet zones.

Kaminia
Located in the south near the village of Skala, it is a beautiful and large sandy beach among hills, partially equipped, with blue, clear, gently sloping water. The beach is particularly known for the presence of Caretta Caretta turtles that come here to lay their eggs: a perfect place for snorkeling if you are lucky enough to spot them.

Koroni
Located in the south of the island, near the village of Kato Katelios, it is both sandy and pebbly, little frequented and somewhat wild, with turquoise, crystal-clear water.

Katelios
Located in the south near the fishing village of Kato Katelios, it is a beach of sand and pebbles with blue water and a shallow seabed.

Aghios Thomas
These are two beautiful small beaches located in the south of the island, near the village of Karavados, sandy, with blue, clear water and a fairly shallow seabed. The first is where the road ends, while the second, larger and more frequented, is reached via a shaded and scenic path.

Pessada
There are two beaches, not equipped, sandy with clear, colorful water. The first is reached via a green path and is small with beautiful emerging rocks. From this one, on the right, you can reach the second with a more challenging path. This one is also small and sandy, with natural shade and very beautiful.

Spartia
Located near the airport, close to the village of Spartia, it consists of several small sandy beaches with blue, clear water and a shallow seabed.

Makris Gialos
Located near Argostoli, it is a wide sandy beach, well equipped, bordered by rocks and lush vegetation, with blue, clear water and a fairly shallow seabed.

Platis Gialos
Located near Argostoli, it is a small sandy beach, quieter than Makris Gialos, with rocks and stones on the edges, a very beautiful sea, and suitable for children.

Lagadakia
Located south of the Lixouri peninsula, it is a beautiful gravel beach with blue, clear water, not equipped and absolutely tranquil.

Petani
Located on the Lixouri peninsula, it is a splendid light sandy beach in a wild environment, with a beautiful, clear, gently sloping sea, bordered by high cliffs and not equipped.

Myrtos
It is the most famous beach of Kefalonia, just below Assos. Beautiful, white, wide, surrounded by high cliffs and with particularly blue water due to the presence of pearly rocks. The water, despite being very colorful, is never really clear because of the talc. It is reached by car via a winding road. A bit crowded, equipped, very hot, and with a deep seabed. Seen from above, it is truly a splendid beach.

Assos
Located near the beautiful and mountainous peninsula of Assos with an old Venetian fort at the top and its characteristic village, it is a small beach of sand and pebbles next to the houses and the port, with clear water but unfortunately not well maintained.
