Lefkada is unique among the Greek islands as it is connected to the mainland by a bridge, making it extremely easy to reach by car or bus. Regular bus services run from Athens (about 5.5 hours).
By sea, the island can be reached from Igoumenitsa on the Greek mainland. For those coming from Italy, ferries to Igoumenitsa operate from several Adriatic ports (Ancona, Bari, Brindisi, Venice). From Igoumenitsa, Lefkada is about 100 km by road (approximately 2 hours by car or bus). For ferry booking, refer to directferries.com.
Lefkada does not have its own airport but relies on Aktion/Preveza Airport, about 20 km away. There are domestic flights from Athens (limited seats) and seasonal charter flights from various European cities in summer. For flight booking, visit skyscanner.com.
Connections are much more frequent during the summer season; always check availability if travelling in other periods.
