What to see in Meganisi?

Meganisi can be visited in a day starting from Lefkada because it is small, but it is also suitable for a proper vacation for those who love tranquility, beautiful sea, and being in contact with nature. Below are the main things to see on the island.

Vathi
Vathi is a picturesque village, also thanks to its beautiful fishing port.

Katomeri
A beautiful village with houses separated by very narrow alleys.

Spartochori
Located in a deep bay in the north of the island in a panoramic position, it is the largest and most charming of Meganisi with its white houses separated by a maze of narrow alleys.

Papanikolis Cave
A very large sea cave, accessible only by sea, where a submarine found refuge during World War II.

Capo Kephali

Monastery of Aghios Ioannis
Located west of the island, it is interesting for its history. It was built in 1477 and, according to tradition, was destroyed by pirates who threw the icon of the saint into the sea. It was found in the nets of a fisherman and a nun was tasked with raising funds to rebuild the monastery. With tenacity and perseverance, she managed to collect enough alms and lived in the rebuilt monastery until her death.
