Paxi or Paxos (from the Greek Παξοί) is one of the smallest Ionian Islands, 10 km long and up to 4 km wide. It is a tranquil island, especially compared to nearby Corfu, and is so small that it can be traversed on foot through rich vegetation: olive trees, orchards, prickly pears, lemons, and vines. It is only 7 nautical miles from the south of Corfu and 12 nautical miles from the coast of mainland Greece. It can be easily reached by ferry or hydrofoil mainly from the port of Corfu (35 nautical miles) or from Igoumenitsa.

It has an area of 30 km² and about 2400 inhabitants.

Its eastern coast is calm and dotted with small bays, while the western coast is rocky. The elevations are low, with the highest point of the island being only 250 meters.

Olive oil is the main product of the island, along with fishing and tourism.

The capital of the island is Gaios, where there is also a large natural harbor that is very characteristic because it resembles a fjord with two very small green islands in front.

The sea of Paxos is very beautiful: blue and with clear waters.

From the port of Gaios, a paved road runs the length of the island from south to north through large olive groves. A bus service along this road connects the three main villages of the island. To see Paxos, you can rent a car, scooter, or bicycle, but the best way is to rent a boat.
