The tranquil island of Paxos is small but offers many attractions: rich vegetation, a fish-filled and clear sea, beautiful beaches, white cliffs, coves, sea caves, and islets. Below are the main things not to miss.
Gaios
The beautiful capital of the island, located within a spectacular marine channel with a picturesque harbor facing two islets: Panaghia with a monastery and Aghios Nikolaos with a Venetian fortress and an old windmill. From here, you can depart to visit Antipaxos and the island's most secluded coves.
Church of Aghii Apostoli
Reachable on foot (a kilometer and a half through olive and lemon groves) from the Magazià hamlet, it is the most picturesque church on the island, overlooking a spectacular cliff above the sea.
Cave of Poseidon
A beautiful cave near the village of Lakka.
Assumption Day Festival
A religious festival at the Monastery of the Madonna on the island of Panaghia with a final dance in the square in Gaios.
International Music Festival
From August 28 to September 6, the International Music Festival takes place with concerts from the "Guildhall School of Music and Drama."
Island Tour
I recommend a boat tour around the island to see the rugged western coast with its sea caves, a natural rock bridge, a large sea stack (Ortholithos), and its colorful sea.
Scuba Diving
The seabed of Paxos is among the most beautiful in Greece; for diving enthusiasts, it offers colorful and well-formed underwater landscapes.
Antipaxos Island
A beautiful island south of Paxos with only one small village. It is tranquil (not in August), a bit wild, and has beautiful beaches (Voutoumi and Vrika) and a stunning sea.
