What to see in Tilos?

Tilos can be a tourist destination for its sandy beaches, castles, and unspoiled nature. It is an island not frequented by many tourists because it does not have standout attractions, but it may appeal precisely for the silence it offers its visitors and for its splendid walks. The main things to see and do are listed below.

Megalo Chorio
Capital with very few houses arranged amphitheatrically on a hilltop with the remains of a medieval castle at the top, offering panoramic views and ideal for watching the sunset. In the large village square, there is a beautiful pavement decorated with white and black pebbles. A small but interesting paleontological museum houses the bones of a dwarf elephant belonging to the species that lived on the island and became extinct thousands of years ago.

Micro Chorio
Small now uninhabited village with the remains of some medieval towers, which are suggestively illuminated in the evening.

Livadia
Island's port located in a green area. Nearby are an ancient early Christian basilica, the ruins of a medieval castle, and the small church of Agios Nikolaos.

Aghios Antonios
Picturesque fishing village with a small port, mill, and small church.

Monastery of Aghios Panteleimonas
Beautiful monastery on the slopes of Mount Profitis Ilias, declared a national monument. Inside, there is a beautiful courtyard paved with typical white and black pebbles. The area is green and very scenic.

Kharkhadio Caves
Inside, prehistoric tools and the bones of a species of dwarf elephant (about 120-160 cm tall) have been found, along with the remains of a medieval fortress.

Profitis Ilias
Beautiful walk to the top of the island's highest mountain to admire a stunning panorama.
