Best beaches of Alonissos

The island has beautiful beaches almost everywhere except in the northwest area, which is continuously beaten by the Meltemi wind. Below are listed starting from the port of Patitiri and imagining circling the island counterclockwise.

Roussoum Gialos
Located about 1 km from the port to the northeast. The beach is very popular both for its sand and colorful sea and for its proximity to the port. In the area, there is a small marina, many taverns, studios, and nightclubs.

Chrissi Milia
Located about 4 kilometers from the port to the northeast. It is perhaps the most famous and frequented beach on the island and is equipped for water sports. Behind the beach, there is a cool pine forest, and the sea is particularly shallow, sandy, colorful, and clear. Very suitable for families with children.

Milia
Located opposite the more famous Chrissi Milia and is just over 5 km from the port to the northeast. It is a beautiful hidden, pebbly beach surrounded by greenery with very clear waters. Ideal for those who love tranquility and wild environments.

Kokkinokastro
Located just north of Chrissi Milia, it gets its name from the beautiful red cliff behind it. The equipped beach is made of both white and colored pebbles, and the sea is beautiful. The area is of particular interest due to the archaeological remains of the ancient city of Ikos and the islet of Kokkinonisi, where Paleolithic artifacts have been found.

Tzortzi (Giorgi)
Located north of Kokkinokastro on the east side of the island. The beach is not very frequented and is ideal for those who love nature and solitude. It is surrounded by pines and olive trees, very sheltered, and about 2 km long.

Leptos Gialos
Located about 6 kilometers from the port to the northeast. The equipped beach is not very large but is very white with very clear and colorful sea. The area behind the beach is rich in trees, making the bay very beautiful.

Megali Ammos
Located about 7 km from the port to the northwest. The beach is pebbly, with crystal clear waters and situated in a wild environment that guarantees tranquility and privacy.

Agios Petros
Located just north of the small port of Steni Vala and can be reached on foot in 15 minutes. It is a sandy beach, little frequented and surrounded by pine forests. Its coast is rich in marble, and the sea is crystal clear and colorful.

Glyfa
Located north of the small port of Steni Vala and can also be reached by bus. It is a very quiet beach, partially sandy, with green waters.

Vamvakies
Located about 12 km from the port to the northeast. It is a pebbly beach with clear waters and a very characteristic natural environment.

Agios Dimitrios
Located about 16 kilometers from the port to the northeast. The beach is equipped and easily accessible by car on the very scenic road leading north from the port. Agios Dimitrios is among the most beautiful beaches on the island with very clear waters and a gently sloping pebbly seabed.

Lakes
Located just north of the old capital Alonissos. The beach is pebbly and wild. On its left, a windmill embellishes the landscape.

Vrisitsa
Located about 5 kilometers from the port to the west in a cove surrounded by greenery and well sheltered from the winds. The beach is made of dark sand and pebbles with clear waters. To reach it, you travel a very scenic road, and at the end, there is a beautifully restored mill.

Megalos Mourtias
Located about 3 km from the port to the southwest. It is a pebbly beach sheltered from the wind with clear waters. It can also be reached on foot directly from the old capital Alonissos in about 20 minutes.

Vithisma
Located between Megalos Mourtias and Marpounta and is only accessible by sea or on foot via a path that branches off from the road that leads from Marpounta to Megalos Mourtias. The beach is sandy, very little frequented, and very beautiful.

Marpounta
Located at the southernmost point of the island, not far from the port. The beach is equipped, and there are hotel facilities in the area. Being a pebbly beach, the sea is particularly clear with beautiful seabeds. A dirt path leads to the old town of Alonissos.

Spartines
Located about 2 km from the port to the south and only accessible by sea or on foot. It is a very quiet pebbly beach with a beautiful crystal-clear sea.
