Best beaches of Skiathos
Although Skiathos is a small island, it offers more than 70 beautiful beaches among coves and inlets. Below are the most renowned ones, starting from La Chora and imagining traveling around the island clockwise. Most of the beaches are a bit crowded except those in the north.
Megali Ammos
Located just south of La Chora, it is a very large sandy beach favored by the inhabitants of La Chora and frequented even out of season.
Achladies
Located 3 km south of La Chora, it is a very beautiful small sandy beach with an adjacent tourist center. It is fully equipped for various water sports. It is generally crowded.
Nostos
Located just after Achladies, it is also a beautiful sandy beach with clear, shallow water and plenty of vegetation behind. It is fully equipped for various water sports. It is generally crowded.
Kanapitsa
Located about 4 km south of La Chora, it is a small, less frequented beach loved for its landscape, even in the evening. The sea is very clear and rich in fish.
Vromolimnos
Located south on the opposite side of Kanapitsa, it is a beautiful beach frequented by young people and chosen for parties and music. There is also rich vegetation behind.
Kolios
Located south, between Vromolimnos and Aghia Paraskevi, it is characterized by its often very calm waters.
Aghia Paraskevi
Located south, just after Kolios, it is a sandy beach less frequented by young people. The sea becomes deep after a few meters.
Troulos
Located near the village of the same name, it is a sandy beach with an islet in front. It is equipped and very frequented.
Maratha
Located about 10 km from La Chora, it is a sandy beach surrounded by greenery with colorful and clear water.
Koukonaries
Located about 10 km from La Chora, it is a horseshoe-shaped beach with very fine white sand about 1 km long, with a large pine forest behind it: considered one of the most beautiful Greek beaches by many. The beach is equipped, always very crowded, with shallow, blue, and clear water. In the area, there are all kinds of tourist facilities, and behind the beach, there is a lake.
Banana Beach and Little Banana Beach
Located on the southwest side of the island near Koukonaries, they are two beaches with very clear water, one of which (smaller and quieter) is frequented by nudists. They can be reached from Koukounaries by a dirt road. Very beautiful, very crowded, and well equipped.
Aghia Eleni
Located just north of Banana Beach, it is a long equipped beach but quite quiet and well-ventilated. It can be reached from Koukounaries by a dirt road. Its sunsets are very beautiful.
Mandraki
Reachable by sea or by bus, getting off at Mandraki and continuing on foot for about half an hour. An exotic sandy beach with shallow water, surrounded by sandy hills. Little frequented even in high season.
Asselinos
Located halfway along the west coast, it is a beach immersed in nature. Often windy and with rough seas, it has the typical characteristics of a somewhat wild beach.
Kechria
Located west, north of Asselinos, it is a beach unknown to most tourists. There is no tourist settlement in the area, making it ideal for those seeking solitude. The beach is surrounded by hills, creating a particular contrast.
Lalaria
Located at the extreme north of the island, at the foot of a cliff with stacks and a natural arch in the sea, it is a white pebble beach accessible only by boat. The landscape is very beautiful and has helped make Skiathos famous: steep white cliffs, clear, colorful water, and many fish to see. A destination for boat trips, it fills with tourists.
Blue Cave (Galasia Spilia) and Black Cave (Skotinia Spilia)
These caves have no beach but are frequented by diving enthusiasts. Very beautiful and evocative, they are located just beyond Lalaria.
Megas Gialos
Located about 2 km north of La Chora, it is a somewhat dark sandy beach surrounded by rocks and vegetation. Ideal for those who love tranquility, very clear water, and do not need umbrellas and sunbeds.
Glyphoneri
Located about 3 km north of La Chora, it is a somewhat dark sandy beach with particular rocks curiously emerging from the sea.
Xanema
Located about 2 km north of La Chora (next to the airport runway), it is a beach for nudists: equipped, windy, pebbly, and with beautiful clear water.
Tsougria
This is the islet located in front of La Chora. It has a beautiful beach in a pristine and very quiet environment.
