Although it is an island where nature reigns supreme, you must not miss visiting the main towns, the typical "syrmata dei pescatori," and the monuments that bear witness to the history of this land.
Plaka
The capital of the island, it is situated on the hillside at about 200 meters above sea level. Characterized by traditional narrow streets, where there are numerous small restaurants, shops, and churches, it also offers a splendid view of the bay that allows you to enjoy beautiful sunsets. You must also climb to the castle where you can appreciate a beautiful 360° panorama of the island. Plaka also hosts the Archaeological Museum and the Folklore Museum.

Adamas
Located at the foot of a hill, it is the main port center of the island. This is where the main ferries arrive and the boat trips to the coasts accessible only by sea depart. Along the seafront, there are many typical restaurants and several shops. Interesting visits include the various museums: Maritime Museum, Mining Museum, and Ecclesiastical Museum.

Pollonia
A small fishing village that today hosts several tourist facilities. It offers a beautiful beach and a small port that connects to the nearby island of Kimolos.

Klima, Mandrakia, Fourkovounni, Firopotamos
Small fishing villages characterized by traditional "syrmata," old garages for fishermen's boats that are now used as second homes for inland residents. They are worth a visit because they are truly characteristic.

Catacombs
Accessible by following the road to Tripiti, they are considered the second most important Early Christian monument in the world. Consisting of a central underground corridor and smaller side ones, they reach a total length of 185 meters, and it is estimated that more than 2000 Christians were buried there.
Theater
Located in the Tripiti area, on the hill below Plaka, it is a Roman theater with excellent acoustics that offers a breathtaking view of the bay below.
Filakopi
Archaeological remains located in the Pollonia area that constitute the memory of the most important settlements of the Cycladic culture.
Grotte di Papafragas
They are said to have been used as a refuge by pirates.
Folk Festivals
They take place mainly between June and September and allow you to taste the typical dishes of the island and enjoy music and traditional dances.
