The island of Gavdos is usually appreciated by alternative visitors who reject touristy and somewhat predictable places. These tourists love walking in unspoiled nature, seeking solitude and a sense of freedom in their vacation. Here are the main things to do or see on the island.
Capo Tripiti
It is the southernmost point of Europe and is characterized by a gigantic chair on which tourists take photos. It is accessible by paved road up to Vatsiana, then by a dirt road and a sunny path. The place is also impressive for its magnificent landscape with beautiful rocks emerging from the blue sea.
Lighthouse
Located on the western coast, it was destroyed by the Germans during World War II, then rebuilt, and is currently open to visitors.
Walks
For those who love walking, the island offers several beautiful trails.
Starry Sky
Due to its distance from light sources, the starry sky of Gavdos is particularly beautiful.
Gavdopoula
Pleasant day trip by boat to the nearby islet of Gavdopoula.
