Greek Islands Reachable from Athens by Air or from Piraeus by Boat
The Greek islands reachable from Athens are numerous as there are various routes, either by sea or by air, to reach them.

By airplane, you can land, with a flight from Athens, on almost all islands that have an airport, whether international or national (see the article “[Which Greek islands have an airport and can be reached by plane?](https://www.isoleelleniche.it/en/blog/126-quali-isole-greche-hanno-laeroporto-e-sono-raggiungibili-in-aereo/)”). In particular, the airlines providing direct international flights and their routes are described in the article “[Which Greek islands have direct flights?](https://www.isoleelleniche.it/en/blog/258-quali-isole-greche-hanno-voli-diretti-dallitalia/)” while the internal flights are mainly operated by: Olympic Airlines, Volotea, Ryanair, Aegean Airlines, Sky Express, Tri-MG Intra Asia Airlines, and Hahn Air Systems.

By sea, departing from the port of Piraeus (the main port of Athens), you can reach islands belonging to all archipelagos except the Ionian and Sporades. The journey can be made with faster or slower boats and can take from just under an hour to an entire day.

The ferry companies operating on these routes are essentially the following: Blue Star Ferries, Hellenic Seaways, Anek Lines, Sea Jets, Zante Ferries, Aegean Speed Lines, Golden Star Ferries, and Minoan Lines.

The Piraeus port docks for the Greek islands range from number 1 to number 10, and the departing ferries are clearly indicated by appropriate signage. The transport means that lead to the port have their terminus in front of docks 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 (the most frequented ones); keep in mind that reaching the farther docks (for example, dock 1 for the Dodecanese islands) may require a long walk! If you arrive in Athens by plane, to reach the port of Piraeus, which is about 50 kilometers away, you can consult the article “[How to get to the port of Piraeus from Athens airport](https://www.isoleelleniche.it/en/blog/230-come-arrivare-al-porto-del-pireo-dallaeroporto-di-atene/)”.

Below, grouped by archipelago, we list all the islands reachable from Athens (by airplane) or from the port of Piraeus (by ferry), specifying the approximate travel time (in high season with hydrofoils, where available, the times are significantly reduced).
